We are the future we can be

I was again made to recall my past - but not just my past but our past, the past of the majority of my friends, colleagues, brothers and sisters - the past of the life we led during those days, when we were bush school kids.

 In order to communicate my happiness, I had to re-register the blog I de-registered in 2013, when the political crisis overtook reason and South Sudanese-ness that we once celebrated. 

This recall to my past happened when Hon Taban Abel has this to write on his Facebook Timeline. 

He said:  
"Yesterday, I paid a visit to my friend, a prominent media personality in Juba, Editor in Chief of The Dawn Newspaper Emmanuel Monychol Akop in his office. Monychol has been of serious service to our country. May God bless him in all his endeavors."

He is right. Taban And I are the product of a once powerful bush school, where we were taught to understand that in this world, only young people with the knowledge and the right attitude can change the world; not the type we see today.

So bearing this in mind, and oblivious of what the future held for us in Mapuordit Comboni School during those days -  with Mapuordit remoteness and with little connection for us, to make friends anywhere else, other than with ourselves under Rok-cok, or under Lulu Trees, we hoped that one day, God will deliver South Sudan, and the future will belong to us - we foresaw that future as the future of happiness and plenty, not war, hatred hunger and disease.   

Al lot remains to be written about this past and about this future - the future we foresaw during those darker days, what it has become....

So longtime ago, Taban Abel Aguek and Emmanuel Monychol Akop did not know that one day, they will stand tall, shoulder to shoulder, hoping that one day, South Sudan will be a great country for her great people, brought down by war and disease.
